1. Instructional Web Presentation:
Learning Objects and Teacher-Friendly Tools
This presentation tutorial we originally created for
LSTE 7303. It now resides on he Mid-South Community College shared
learning objects website.
In addition, it is part of an online course that I designed titled
"Instructional Design Skills for Online Learning. I presented this same at
AATYC in October 2004 and in Tampa Florida at the Innovations conference in
November, 2004.
2. Published Article:
Tools
for Creating Learning Objects
This was a research paper written for LSTE 7303
in March, 2004. It was later published in the Arkansas Association or
Instructional Media Journal, Volume 36, Number 2. It also appears on the
Mid-South Community College shared learning objects website via this link:

3. Lesson Plan:
Planning to teach teachers to use SoftChalk LessonBuilder
I created this one in LSTE 7305. this was my first experience with
designing a formal lesson plan. I discovered the ASSURE model of
instructional design in this course. During the spring 2005 semester, I
designed a set of workshops for faculty at MSCC that cover Designing
Student-Centered Active-Learning. I integrated the design of lesson plans
and activities, loosely based on the ASSURE model. Being able to
provide a template and samples is a great help to faculty learning to design
learning activities. Here is a link to the training I have developed for
MSCC faculty that integrates what I learned in LSTE 7305:
Designing
Student-Center Active Learning
4. Tutorial:
Using SoftChalk LessonBuilder |
Learning Objects Quiz (example of branching)
I designed these products using PowerPoint and Impatica as an assignments for
LSTE 7305 during the spring 2004 semester at UALR. I built upon
this experience by using these in my work at MSCC. I teach faculty at MSCC
to use these products. I learned about branching in the course, and now
teach faculty to incorporate branching into tutorials. During the spring
2005 semester, I organized and promoted a SoftChalk LessonBuilder contest for faculty
at MSCC. You can see the entries via this link:

5. Project Pager:
My Experiences
learning to use Camtasia Studio for instructional tutorial creation
I wrote this paper for EDFN 7313 in November, 2004. I built
upon this learning experience professional by using Camtasia to create the
following set of tutorials for the faculty of MSCC in December, 2004:
Blackboard
Basics
6. Mastery Learning: I took many classes under Dr. David Spillers. From him, I learned about mastery learning. He introduced me to the "Do until accepted" concept for course work. His style of teaching inspired me to create the following instructional learning objects for faculty at MSCC: Mastery Learning | The Master Course Initiative
7. Study Guide:
Study Guide/Assignment Calendar
for Capstone Project course |
Study Guide/Assignment
Calendar for ID course
In LSTE 7330 in the Fall of 2004, I created a study guide. In the spring
2005 semester, I designed an online workshop for faculty at MSCC in which I
teach them to create study guide/assignment calendar documents in a similar
fashion, to encompass an entire semester. I promote this practice because
I believe students will feel less stressed if they know exactly what is expected
of them for the entire semester, from day one of the course. A well
designed study guide not only relieves stress from not knowing, but also enables
students to work ahead if they want to.
8. E-learning Design: During the Spring 2005 semester, I took an Independent study and Seminar course under Dr. David Spillers. For these courses, I designed two faculty development online workshops. Designing the Learning Experience and Integrating Blackboard with the Master Course
9. Informational:
Timeline of Distance Education
This was created for LSTE 7330 during the fall 2004 semester.
10. External Projects: During the summer and fall of 2004, I worked on several projects for McGraw Hill and NWCET related to the book Internet Technologies at Work, by Dr. Fred Hofstetter. I wrote the test bank for all 13 chapters. I also did the technical edit of the book and wrote 13 NWCET skills standards activities with associated assessment tools.
